Our Story
Who We Are
We are an olive oil brand rooted in the heart of the Aegean, in the fertile lands of Tire. Our production journey is shaped in the shade of olive trees that have stood tall for centuries. The natural richness of our mountain, home to our olive trees, determines the spirit and character of the oils we produce.
Our facility, established on 35,000 square meters of land surrounded by our Arbequina olive trees, processes the bounties of nature meticulously and brings them to your tables with superior hygiene standards, state-of-the-art continuous system machinery, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Our brand, blended with the strong heritage of the region, carries tradition into the future with modern production techniques.
Our Story
Streams flowing through the lush green plains of Tire, melodies of various bird species, and the scent of rich vegetation... This is where our story begins, in this paradisiacal land.
Each of our 300-year-old olive trees, located on one of Tire's most fertile mountains, carries the strong spirit of these lands, having stood firm against historical and natural disasters in a struggle that has continued for centuries. Challenging fires, floods, and all the difficulties of time, these trees, deepening their roots, are living proof of patience and the power of nature.
Our mountain, surrounded by olive trees, is also a rich habitat with unique aromatherapy plants and countless bird species. Plants such as salep, aronia, pistachio, St. John's wort, lavender, and wild strawberries spontaneously sprout in the fertile soil of this mountain. These plants, as a reflection of the richness offered by nature, add a unique aroma to our olives and the oil we produce.
The stream passing through the middle of our mountain flows continuously, just like the life cycle that has been going on for centuries. This region has been a land of beauty admired by travelers since ancient times. So much so that even Evliya Çelebi praised Tire in his Seyahatname, describing the fertility and uniqueness of these lands by saying, "Tire, where oil flows from its mountains and honey from its plains."
Tire's gastronomic richness, known since ancient times, is also based on the diversity offered by these mountains. As travelers discovered this natural wonder of Tire, they stated how rich it was not only in natural terms but also gastronomically. The olives, olive oil, and other local plants grown in these lands have formed the cornerstones of the culinary culture not only of the region but also of the wider area.
In ancient times, at the foothills of the mountain, in the area where our production facility is located, there was a lake called Gümüş Gömü (Silver Treasure). Its surface, like a shining mirror, reflected the sun's light, illuminating everything around it in a mesmerizing way. This lake was the heart of transport by boat. Olive oils were loaded into boats that glided on the lake in amphorae, setting off for distant lands. In those days, Tire's olive oil was not just an ingredient but also a carrier of a culture."
Deep-Rooted Past, Modern Touch
Today, we continue to produce olive oil by combining the heritage of this deep-rooted past with modern production techniques. We bring the olive oil obtained from the fruits of our 300-year-old memecik olive trees to your tables by processing it with natural methods.
Orkes Olive Oil is a product of these fertile lands, generations of continuous labor, and our respect for nature. In every drop, you will find traces of history, nature, and effort.
